The Apple iPad

I’ll admit it. I am an Apple addict. I have an iMac, a MacBook, an iPhone, a sweet new Apple Magic Mouse, the sleek wired and wireless Apple keyboards and my kids both have iPod nanos. I love how they all work together. I love the smooth and modern look of everything.

Well today, Apple announced it’s next BIG thing. Their big spin on everything was that they wanted something to bridge the gap between the smartphone category (iPhone) and the laptop/desktop category (iMacs & MacBooks). The answer was the iPad (I don’t know if I care for the name to much). It’s such a revolutionary device/computer.

I’ve already begun to list things I want to use these for in my business as well as a personal life.  A few things for the business are of course my entire portfolio for potential clients to view, a custom-designed price guide for them to look over.  Then once they’ve decided on a wedding package, I can just open the wedding photography contract with the Pages app and draw up their contract on the spot and e-mail to them to print, sign and return.  I could even take it one step further and take them right to my website and have them pay for their deposit.

This is just make everything so much easier, user-friendly and efficient.  The iPad was announced today, but won’t be shipping until probably April 1, 2010.

You can click here to watch the keynote Steve Jobs gave and learn all about the iPad.

Georgia Bridal Show 2010

Well, I’m finally feeling better and I have about 894 things on my to-do list, but first I wanted to show off my booth from this past Sunday’s bridal show at the Bell Auditorium.  This was my first bridal show and I really didn’t show what to expect.  I took the advice of fellow photographer, Dale Benfield, and went all out.  The room was built as a room and invite potential clients in “the room” to chat about their wedding.  The biggest and most important piece, I my mind was the couch.  Everyone loved it.  It gave them the opportunity to sit down, rest their feet, take their time looking at albums and talk longer about their wedding.

All and all it was a great day.  Many thanks go out to my mom, my sister Amanda (who getting married in February), Ryan, Kyle and Joe.  Without your help, there’s no way I could have done this.  Here’s a few photos of the booth, which stayed packed all day.

If you missed me at this past Sunday’s bridal show, I’ll be at the Creme de la Cream bridal show this Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 5pm to 8pm at the Peter Knox Conference Center in Olde Town Augusta.

Rainy Engagement Session – Part 1

Saturday started as a overcast cloudy sky.  The forecast was for rain starting at 1pm at 100% chance, so I knew it was eventually going to pour.  I had scheduled an engagement session with Amanda and Steve and because they are both stationed and Tennessee and North Carolina, the session that to be Saturday.  The rain wasn’t bad all it until the end of the session when my lens cloth became too saturated to dry the lens giving everything a soft focus (which was pretty cool).

Both Steve and Amanda are part of our military.  They are getting married in March this year and then shortly afterward one or both will be deployed overseas.

This is part 1 of 2 posts I’ll be doing from the session.  This is their casual everyday styled session.  The second post is inspired by their military background with a vintage World War II feel to it.

Here’s part 1. ENJOY!!

Check it the rain drops!

Lately, the news has been filled with two things: the travesty and horror caused by the earthquake in Haiti (which is terrible) and the NBC/Jay Leno/Conan O’Brien feud.  Now not to take away from the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, but the TV network feud is much more interesting (and funny).  What I can’t understand is why Jay Leno just doesn’t retire.

If you haven’t been following the story, here it is in a quick rundown.  In June 2009, Leno handed the Tonight Show reins over to Conan and Jay moved to a new timeslot at 10:00pm in primetime to a newly created show by NBC called the Jay Leno show.  Seven months later, the Jay Leno Show ratings were in the tank.  NBC hastily decided to move Jay back to 11:35pm and push Conan (and the famous Tonight Show) to 12:05am timeslot.

Now, I watched the Jay Leno show a couple of times (well I didn’t watch, it was more of a “I’ll give it to shot).  It was terrible.  Same format, same jokes, same lame sketches.  Why has the idiot executives at NBC pushed Jay Leno back to his old slot.  Jay is awful.  Conan is clearly the favorite here.  It doesn’t make since to move the Tonight Show to 12:05am and make the Tomorrow Show.  Conan has basically said he’s not going to host the show at 12:05pm.  I think he basically issued an ultimatium  to NBC.  Put up or shut up.

Now Conan is a really smart guy.  In his contract, it says he hosts the Tonight Show at 11:35pm or 12:05am (in a nutshell).  So basically NBC either has to let him continue the show at the current timeslot or breach the contract and pay out upwards of $40 million to Conan.  Either way Conan comes out on top.  Plus if they break the contract, he could go to FOX or ABC.

I think NBC should do the right thing and let Conan continue with the Tonight Show at the current time.  GIVE JAY LENO THE BOOT.

You can read Conan recently press release that addresses the topic here. I like how he addresses it with “People of Earth”.
